At The Village at Woods Edge, a beloved fall fundraiser is part of a larger commitment to dementia awareness, education, and connection.
Every year, The Village at Woods Edge welcomes residents, families, local businesses, and friends to its campus for an evening of barbecue, live music, and community. The Neighborhood Block Party is a celebration, but its purpose extends well beyond the lawn, the tables, and the music.
This year, the 12th Annual Neighborhood Block Party raised $28,573.13 in support of the Alzheimer’s Association - an achievement made possible by the generosity of the community.
For The Village, that generosity represents something larger: a shared commitment to supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, along with the families and caregivers who walk beside them.
The Neighborhood Block Party began as a milestone marking the first anniversary of Asa’s Neighborhood, memory care at The Village. What started as a meaningful local tradition has grown into an annual gathering that brings the broader community together around a cause that affects millions of individuals and families.
The Alzheimer’s Association works to advance research, provide education and support, and advocate for individuals affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. Those efforts matter not only to people living with a diagnosis, but also to the loved ones who help navigate changing needs, difficult decisions, and the emotional realities of caregiving.
By supporting the Alzheimer’s Association, the Neighborhood Block Party helps contribute to a mission that reaches far beyond The Village’s campus.
We are grateful to every business, donor, volunteer, resident, family member, and guest who helped make this year’s event possible. Their support is a powerful reminder that meaningful change often begins when people choose to work together.

A fundraiser can raise important dollars, but building a supportive community also means creating opportunities to learn, ask questions, and connect with others who understand the experience of dementia.
That belief recently guided The Village’s three-part Dementia Summit Series. Through a series of educational sessions, participants had opportunities to explore dementia-related topics, gain insight, and engage in conversations about supporting loved ones.
Education can help families better understand what they are experiencing, recognize questions worth discussing with care professionals, and feel less alone as circumstances change. Just as importantly, gathering with others can create space for shared understanding and practical encouragement.
The Dementia Summit Series was one step in a broader effort to make dementia education and connection more accessible to our local community.
To build on that momentum, The Village at Woods Edge will serve as the host location for a new dementia support group launching in November.
The group will offer an opportunity for individuals and families affected by dementia to connect with others, share experiences, and find encouragement while navigating the challenges of caregiving and supporting a loved one.
No two families experience dementia in exactly the same way. Having a place to ask questions, listen, and connect with others can be a meaningful part of the journey.
